About Jodhpuri Mojari
- Jodhpuri Mojari is a traditional handcrafted footwear associated with Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
- It is primarily made by artisans of the Jinagar community, which adopted shoemaking nearly 250 years ago.
- Historically, the community produced jeen (saddles) and myaan (leather sheaths for swords and daggers) for royal armies.
- Once patronised by Rajasthan’s royal families, the Mojari gradually evolved into a distinctive regional craft.
Key Features
- It is entirely handmade using leather obtained from camel, goat, cow and buffalo.
- Its breathable, durable and flexible design makes it suitable for walking long distances.
- It can be easily removed while entering homes, temples and other religious places.
- Worn by both men and women, the Mojari is particularly suited to Rajasthan’s hot and dry climate.
