Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) 5.0

ECLGS 5.0 is in focus as the government has extended targeted credit guarantee support to businesses affected by external disruptions.The scheme is operational till 31 March 2027 or until guarantees worth ₹2.55 lakh crore are issued, whichever is earlier.

About ECLGS

  • The Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) was launched in 2020 under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Package to provide emergency credit support to businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The scheme provides government-backed guarantees on loans extended by eligible lending institutions.
ECLGS Version Coverage / Key Features
ECLGS 1.0 Covered MSMEs, business enterprises, Mudra borrowers and individual business loans; eligible borrowers had outstanding credit up to ₹50 crore and DPD up to 60 days as of February 2020.
ECLGS 2.0 Covered 26 stressed sectors identified by the Kamath Committee and healthcare; eligible borrowers had outstanding loans above ₹50 crore and up to ₹500 crore, with DPD up to 60 days as of February 2020.
ECLGS 3.0 Extended support to hospitality, travel & tourism, leisure & sporting, and civil aviation sectors.
ECLGS 4.0 Focused on healthcare infrastructure; covered hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, medical colleges and manufacturers of liquid oxygen, oxygen cylinders and related equipment.

About ECLGS 5.0

  • ECLGS 5.0 provides government-guaranteed additional credit to eligible businesses facing financial stress.
  • It is operational till 31 March 2027 or until guarantees of ₹2.55 lakh crore are issued.
  • It covers MSMEs, eligible non-MSMEs and scheduled passenger airlines.
  • The scheme operates through Member Lending Institutions (MLIs) under the NCGTC framework.
