- Active Galaxy: A galaxy hosting an AGN is called an 'active galaxy.'
- Characteristics: AGNs are the most luminous, persistent sources of electromagnetic radiation in the Universe, useful for discovering distant objects.
- Quasars and Blazars: The most powerful AGNs are quasars, which create extremely luminous galactic centers. A blazar is an AGN with a jet pointed toward Earth.
