Corporate Mitra Scheme

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), Shillong, organised an awareness webinar on the Corporate Mitra Scheme, aimed at expanding affordable business and regulatory-compliance support for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

About the Scheme

  • Launched by: Ministry of Corporate Affairs
  • Administered by: Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs
  • Objective: To create a cadre of trained and accredited Corporate Mitras who can provide affordable business advisory and compliance services to MSMEs.

Key Features

  • Corporate Mitras will function as paraprofessionals, assisting MSMEs with corporate laws, registrations, regulatory filings and business-related compliance.
  • The scheme primarily targets tier-2 and tier-3 cities, where access to professional consultancy services is limited.
  • It seeks to strengthen the MSME ecosystem by improving compliance awareness and reducing the cost of professional assistance.
  • In the first phase, around 2,000 participants will be trained across India.
  • This includes 200 candidates from the North-Eastern Region.
  • Selected candidates from the North-East will receive a 50% concession on the course fee.

Significance
The scheme will promote ease of doing business, improve regulatory compliance among MSMEs, generate skilled employment and expand professional support services beyond major urban centres.
